Cryogenic Treatment
Cryogenic Treatment is a cryogenic tempering process to increase wear life and decrease residual stress. Cryogenic tempering after heat treat (this is a supplement to heat treating) transforms the material to a denser, harder, more stable structure that provides many benefits. Cryogenics employs low temperatures to complete the hardening transformation of Retained Austenite to Martensite.
Benefits:
- improves hardness uniformity
- improves shock resistance
- reduce abrasive wear
- reduce residual stress
- enhance machinability
- reduce corrosion
